A hearty soup with some crusty bread, and cheese if you want to be decadent is a simple but filling and cheap dinner, and even better if you make the bread.
Once you get the basics right for making a soup, particularly a veggie one, you can make it from anything at all! There are of course, some quite decadent soup recipes around. Really yum!
