This was a recipe I made in our first campervan and put in the oven in the Gisborne A&P Showgrounds communal kitchen oven. It was pretty good! A slightly different texture, this is a really tasty bread, particularly when it's toasted.
1 tbsp golden syrup
2 cups boiling water
2 cups milk
1 tbsp dry granulated yeast
450g high grade flour
450g wholemeal flour
1.5 tsp salt
3 tbsp wheatgerm
1/2 cup sunflower seeds
1/2 cup pumpkin seeds
extra seeds to garnish
Mix syrup, water and milk togethr and sprinkle yeast over. Leave for 5 mins until frothy.
Combine the dry ingredients in a big bowl. Make a well in the centre and pour in the wet mix. Mix well - it is sticky!
Divide between two well oiled loaf tins and sprinkle more seeds on the top.
Put in a cold oven and turn it to 50C for half an hour.
Turn the temperature to 200C for approximately half an hour until golden and cooked through.
